This week’s review is for a film that isn’t gracing multiplexes and isn’t even a new release. It’s a film I watched recently that undeservedly slipped under the radar first time round but I found it both entertaining and thought-provoking. The film in question is The Man from Earth (2007).

The martial arts genre is flooded with films every year. Unless you’re a real fanatic about the genre, most efforts fly under the radar, so to make a film that stands out is a real achievement.

We expect the sound of Blu-ray discs to capture all the thrills, excitement and sonic fidelity we experience in the cinema, so even the most ardent home theatre enthusiast might question whether it could get any better.

Shooting videos is fun, but editing them is always a chore. With the release of the new Avengers film last week, I thought I’d take the opportunity to take a look at the history of the characters and comment on how they’ve already been depicted in film over the past five decades.

The post-apocalyptic film genre usually comes in the form of mutants, the undead or other such monsters depicting hell on earth and our battle to survive. However, French director Xavier Gens’ latest cinematic offering The Divide (2011) depicts the monsters as normal people – as a group of neighbours take refuge in a basement following a nuclear attack.

Videos are a big part of the internet, and with the rise in popularity of smartphones, watching videos while you are mobile is a must. There are a lot of great applications for your mobile phone that enable you to watch videos anytime, anywhere.

Unless you live in a bubble on the moon, you’ll have played Angry Birds. Or at the very least heard of the app that has taken the world by storm.
